Join us for our second annual Be Inspired Fall Retreat 2020. Last year was so incredible, we’re doing it again! It is an all-inclusive, three day/two night at the beautiful Dragonfly Yoga Barn, Studio and Retreats. Come experience this true gem, located in the beautiful mountains of North Sandwich. The owners, Katie & Declan O’Connell, are exceptional hosts. They are warm and welcoming, and share their place with love and grace.
This is an excellent opportunity to disconnect from the drudgery of daily life and reconnect with your ” Self “. September is one of the best months of the year to enjoy this picturesque place. Your weekend will include unique yoga classes, silent walks, hiking, delicious homemade meals and a roaring campfire. Plus this year we have a unique workshop, Intro to Kirtan with Katie. Also, don’t forget your bathing suit for a soak in the hot tub, out on the deck. It is a weekend designed to soothe your soul and recharge your battery.
Below is the weekend itinerary. All descriptions for the classes, workshop and hike are listed below. Classes are designed for all levels. All vegetarian meals and snacks are created daily, using locally-grown, organic foods. Accommodations are made for vegan diets. If you have dietary restrictions, let us know, we will make every effort to accommodate your needs.
Welcome + Gentle Stretch: Our welcome reception will include introductions, itinerary review for the weekend, and house rules. We will work on settling into our space with gentle stretching and breathing. We will also review the map of our location, and any other considerations we should know during our stay at Dragonfly Studio. (45 min)
Restore Yoga: This evening class will focus on reconnecting with our self, through a combination of gentle yoga, restorative yoga and pranayama (focused breathing). After a long trip, it is the perfect way to end the day and start the weekend retreat. (75 min)
Ayurveda Doshas Flow with Katie: This morning class will be taught by owner and yoga instructor Katie O’Connell. As a Ayurveda Health Practitioner, Katie incorporates the three principle elements of Ayurveda (also known as Doshas), into this therapeutic yoga flow. It allows us to reconnect with all of the elements that move within us. (90 min)
Yin Yoga: After our hike outing, we will reset with an afternoon Yin Yoga class. Yin Yoga is a quiet, contemplative practice. Yin works deeply into our body with longer held poses. It targets our deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues — ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body — rather than the muscles. We will use breath work to release tension from our muscle-body, consciously allowing us to relax in the work. (75 min)
Meditation and Mindful Yoga: This morning class will introduce meditation to our practice. We will work with various meditating techniques, helping us to calm the mind and connect to spirit. Then will we bring that level of attention and presence to a Mindful Yoga flow. The goal is to be present with every breath and movement. (90 min)
Mindful Hike at West Rattlesnake Mountain: Last year we had the most incredible weather for our hike. The views of Squam Lake, when we reached the top, took our breath away. It was easy to simply sit, in quiet awe, taking in the glorious views of the mountains and lake. It was spiritually uplifting. The name sounds deadly, but it’s not! The trail level is graded easy to moderate. The trail is located 25 minutes from the DFLY studio. The hike is 30 minute to the summit of West Rattlesnake Mountain. We guarantee a spectacular view, however no guarantees on the weather! Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Intro to Kirtan with Katie: We are so excited to have an evening of live music and singing with Katie. Communal singing has been around for hundreds of years. Recently in an article titled How Music Bonds Us (Greater Good Magazine), they had this to say:
“There’s little question that humans are wired for music. Researchers recently discovered that we have a dedicated part of our brain for processing music, supporting the theory that it has a special, important function in our lives. Listening to music and singing together has been shown in several studies to directly impact neuro-chemicals in the brain, many of which play a role in closeness and connection. Now new research suggests that playing music or singing together may be particularly potent in bringing about social closeness through the release of endorphins.”
You don’t need to be a good singer, just a wiliness to be open and share your voice. In an age where we are becoming increasingly isolated electronically, it is a great opportunity to express yourself as part of a collective human experience. (60min)
Campfire: Last year Declan created a blazing, campfire under a crisp, starry night sky. We shared stories, laughed and just relaxed. There is nothing like a good fire to unite people. As Declan quoted “…summer is measured by the number of campfires one has.” It’s the perfect way to end the evening, and transition from summer to fall.
Registration and Payment Options:
Everything is included your in payment: Shared sleeping accommodations* (more info below), meals & snacks, four uniquely themed yoga classes, West Rattlesnake Mindful Hike and the Intro to Kirtan workshop. You just need to get yourself to and from the location!
Alcohol Policy: We would prefer a non-alcohol weekend as part of a holistic experience, however, if you feel you’d like to bring your own, do so at your discretion. Please do not attend any of the classes or workshops under the influence. Tea is always free flowing at Dragonfly.
*Shared Sleeping Accommodations: There are two dormitory-styled rooms for a unique retreat experience. Each room holds seven occupants. The rooms are furnished with handcrafted bunk beds which are designed with pull-out drawers to stow away your belongings. The beds are made up with cozy cotton sheets and blankets plus bath towels are provided. There is also a loft space that holds sleeps three. Additional sleep accommodations are available, if necessary.
Experience life outside your comfort zone and image an adult summer camp. You are welcome to bring your own pillow or special blanket to make it feel more like home. We will work to accommodate couples and male participants.
Space is limited to 20 participants: There is a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot, or get a 5% discount if you pay in full by May 1st. Balance is due by August 1st, 2019. If you have to cancel, you have until September 1st for a refund minus the 50% deposit. Full refunds are only given if you can find someone to take your place. Last year the retreat sold out in three months!

If you register with your 50% deposit by June 1st, 2020 the cost is $460.00 per person.
If you pay in full by May 1st, receive a 5% discount or $437.00
If you register after June 1st the cost is $490.00 per person.
